laptop power issue

The other night my laptop was on my bed, turned on, and it was open. I picked it up by the bottom portion between my thumb and fingers to move it and when I did it shut off. Now, it won't power up. If its plugged in I get absolutely nothing. If I take out the power cord the light on the power button comes on for a few seconds but then just shuts off. I'd appreciate any help, thanks.

Take the power cord out, and remove the battery. Let it sit for a while, then put the battery back, and try to press and hold the power button. See if that helps.

Thanks shadowpr!! It worked. That was a real scare....what a relief. Is that a sign that the battery or power adapter is going bad and should be replaced?

Again...thank you very much.
