Dell Battery flashing lights

The battery light on a Dell Inspiron 6400 is flashing 4 orange lights followed by 1 green flash. This battery is only3 months old. Does the light sequence mean anything in specific--or just that the battery is dying already?

Sounds like the battery is defective which isn't a huge surprise with Dell batteries. They die all the time here at work. If the computer is only 3 months old, I would request a new one through warranty

The computer is 15 months old, I bought the replacement battery this Sept on Ebay. Unfortunately, I figured the cheap ones probably wouldn't last, so I paid $150 for this one. I've tried tracking down the seller name on Ebay, but can't find him listed anymore.

Ouch.

That's one reason I don't use ebay. Is it a dell branded battery? If so, you might want to try and call them and see if it's still under manufacturer warrenty.
