HELP; Laptop gone kaput!

OK, i'm a newbie looking for the help of someone slightly more experianced, i'm also not too sure if i'm posting in the right area, apologies if not, feel free to delete/move the thread.

So, I knocked the battery out of my laptop whilst it was running. Since then it doesn't work, here's what happens:

1. Power light comes on
2. Fan comes on
3. Wireless light and HDD light flick on, then off (like they would at the start of booting up)
4. Fan goes off
5. Power light stays on, but nothing happens.

(This happens when it is & isn't plugged in)

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...................cheers!

Moved to Mobile Technology.

Brand and model of the laptop, please?

Last one I had like this, the motherboard was blown. However, you need to open the access panels and reseat the ram, drives, and mini-PCI card. Do this while it's unplugged and the battery is removed.
