Having Trouble Getting A WPC54G To Work On a Toshiba Satellite 2100CDS
I have a Linksys WPC54G Version 3 PCMCIA wireless card that I'm trying to get to work on a Toshiba Satellite 2100CDS laptop.I first tried to install it with Windows 98SE,and Windows ME,but I kept getting an error after it asked me to install the card.I then installed Windows XP Home Edition SP1.The card installed fine, and will see the wireless signal, but it won't connect.I did have it connect to another router for a few seconds, but then it would disconnect.Every so often it would connect, but only for a few seconds.I then tried a version 2 of this card, and got it to connect, but it was only one time.I then tried the version 3 again, and have not been able to get either one to connect any longer. Is there a difference in the version of the cards as far as what they require for a machine to run?I am using WPA for security.I know the slots work,as I had no trouble using an Ethernet card in either slot. The only thing I can think of is the wireless card requires more power then the Ethernet, and I am having trouble with the DC jack.Any help is greatly appreciated.Thank You very much!

Upgrade XP to SP2 or SP3, and use the Windows utility to manage it, not the Linksys utility.
