Hello Guys,
Once again I would like to seek your help on a "burning" topic we did have last night with a couple of friends. My friends genuinely believe that a laptop plugged on the outlet(electricity) should have its battery remove to extend the lifespan of the latter.People who often spend their time working at home should follow that "rule". I don't know what you think but I don't see the point. I don't own one so I would like to have your opinion on the matter. Thierry.

oh .. my friend I read it somewhere here in this topic .. Tips to extend battery life on mobile devices .. if u gonna work at home while ur laptop plugged in to electricity u better remove the battery .. because if u didnt , ur battery will keep being charging even when its full .. this will short the battery life ..
from my own experience - actually , my cousin experience - he had to replace the battery of his new Toshiba laptop in less than a 8 months , the laptop once u unplug it from the charger (well , about 10 -15 min) it goes off even when the battery is fully charged .. reason was continuous charging all the time .. hope this helpful for u .. My wife's Dell laptop is about 3 yrs. old, is very rarely unplugged and the battery has never been removed. Maybe she's just lucky?

At work we have laptops that stayed plugged in for long periods of time and as far as I can tell, it hasnt affected battery life. Some are a few years old. I have often wondered about this question though.

It's fine to leave it plugged in continuously. However, if you unplug it for any reason, it's best to leave it unplugged and run the battery down to almost dead before plugging it back in.

Of course the nice thing about having the battery present in the laptops is in case of a sudden power outage.
