Acer Aspire 2000 laptop
Hi all,
I have a 2003 Acer Aspire 2000 which is running kind of slow especially on startup. It runs just fine after reformat but soon sloooow down in less than a week. It has a 40 GB HDD with 37% free space at the moment but i don't seem to be able to defrag. Can anyone tell me what is wrong? I just built a desktop PC (with the help of pp here) and i have another 2 year old Toshiba laptop but is a shame if i have to dump my Acer. Is there anyway i can upgrade my Acer? Thanks. |

Usually you either can or you can't defrag....What happens when you try? Have you tried in safe mode?

You might try this free defragger. It works very well.

defrag freeze after 5 hr at 57% but i can still hear the HDD "clicking".Will try safe mode or ultimate defrag. What would people usually do with their used laptop? is a shame to dump it and it cost more to upgrade than to buy a new one. Thanks. |

Sounds to me like you need a new hard drive. Haven't we addressed this in another thread? Have you run diagnostics on the hard drive yet?
