Syncing between iPod and PC
My daughter had to have her Toshiba laptop nuked and paved to get rid of some nasties, and in the process, her iTunes library was wiped out. She had previously synced her iPod, so all the music is on the unit, but she's not been able to sync back to the computer to restore them on the laptop.
Looking for any help to do this without buying a software program, although she'd do that if necessary. I'll admit to being lazy - I haven't looked on the iTunes site to see if I can get my question answered there. The forums here are much easier to use than most tech support, and I think more accurate most of the time. Any suggestions are appreciated, including shipping this thread to a different forum if it would be more appropriate. Thanks. TA |

Seriously, checking the iPod forums will get you the best and quickest answer. Or check out Kim Komando's site. I think she had a tip a while back on how to do that.

I don't have an ip[od, so I'm not sure if this will work, but can't you just treat the ipod like any other drive and just search through it, and then copy all the songs and paste them in the computers hard drive?

I dont have an iPod either, but I know that Apple makes it hard to do what you want to do because they want to control how songs are distributed. They dont want your daughter to take all her songs and "give" them to a friend by simply downloading them onto that friend's PC. Im sure what you want to do can be done, but it may go against Apple's rules.

I do have one and I am pretty sure that it can not be done with the ipod and itunes as it comes from apple. I am even more sure that someone, somewhere has or soon will figure out to do it.
Check the apple site. I was on there yesterday and there were several threads addressing that same problem. HTH

Can't you just install iTunes, log into your account, authorize the computer, then sync the iPod back to iTunes?
