I recently purchase two 2 Gig cards to replace the 1 Gig cards in a gateway MT6728 laptop.
I tried a 1st set and started to boot windows vista once and once only and then locked up. After that I could not get past the bios bootup I was never able to get to window vista booting. I ordered another set of 2 gig memory chips and it does the same thing. I can not get past the bios boot up.The 2 nd set never made one attempt past the bios. I did use PC5300 memory chips. What could I do to get 4 gig on this laptop gateway MT6728? |

According to crucial.com: http://www.crucial.com/store/listpar...x?model=MT6728 you can only have a max of 2gb with 1gb per slot.

Not to be rude, but wouldn't a retired techie do a little research before buying a memory upgrade to see if it's even possible and what would be compatible?
