Laptop suddenly lagging...

Hello, I have had my asus laptop for a couple months now and it has always played games such a team fortress 2, half life 2, and counter strike source with no lag what so ever. About a week ago my games started getting very choppy. Now I think I probably get an average of 15 to 20 frames per second to where games are not even playable.

I don't think my computer has a virus I scanned for viruses and spyware several times and found none. I have tried defragging the hard drive and running ccleaner, and also reinstalling my video card drivers.

I don't know my exact computer specs, but i know i have a core 2 duo 2.5 GHz processor, and a radeon HD 3650 gpu.

Thanks in advance!

Try running hd diagnostics, and memtest.

How much free space do you have?

What do you have running in the background?

What antivirus and antimalware programs are you running?

I'm not quite sure how to run hd diagnostics and memtests.

Right now I have 27 gigs free

I usually only have aim or steam running in the background

I use AVG and used to use sometimes i have zone alarm on.

How big is the hard drive?

To run memtest: www.memtest.org

Check the manual, or asus site to see if there is a diagnostic partition, or something similar.

If not, then find out what brand hd you have, and go to the manufacturers website and get the diagnostic software.
