Question Laptop tft screen

Hello Guys !

My cousin has brought me a TOSHIBA laptop to look at. The laptop is working just fine but the screen still black. I connected the laptop to my TFT screen, everything is just fine. But at its own monitor is not working. The screen was replaced last month by a computer repair centre, but the outcome was unsuccessful. I am still wondering what's it is ? I do really smell a rat. Any advices would be appreciated. Thanks a lot folks.

Thierry.

Did it work after the screen was replaced? If so, it should be under warranty.

Do you know if they replaced just the screen or did they also replace the ballast? When you connect to an external display, can you also see the screen on the laptop itself in the Device manager as a Display?

If the video works with an external monitor, the video card is ok. If you can look at the screen with a flashlight and see the image within the blackness, the backlight is blown. If no image and the panel is new, chances are the inverter is blown. Inverter's are quite inexpensive. You can find new ones on ebay easy enough.

Oh, yeah, and make sure you toggle thru the monitor connection options using the Fn key and the appropriate F key.
