Dell battery cannot be identified
Hi,
I have a dell inspiron 1501 running XP. Upon boot i receive the following message. Warning: the battery cannot be identified. This system will be unable to charge this battery. Press Any Key to Continue. Press Press I googled it but nothing that was suggested worked. Odd thing is that my battery does charge and last for about 3 hrs. Any suggestions? |

Is the battery the original one that came with the machine or is it one you purchased?

Read thru this thread and you'll see a solution. Hopefully it will work for you too.
http://forums.techguy.org/hardware/6...dentified.html If not, other forums with posters noting the same problem seem to indicate a bios update fixed theirs. |

Thanks PR
I had read on google about running the battery down until blackout but it didn't talk about booting up with dead battery. I will try what was suggested in the thread tonight when I get home and see. If not I will go to dell which was also suggested. Will update on fix. Like I said earlier my battery does charge so if all else fails I guess I can live with it. It just bugs me Thanks again. |
