Dell Studio, anyone have experience with it?
Was taking a look at getting a Dell Studio laptop to replace my current Toshiba Tecra (has a good amount of problems such as low battery life, really high heat under load and integrated graphic). I plan on dual booting the laptop with Vista Premium 64-bit and Mandriva (probably 32-bit). I'll be using the laptop for light gaming (the HD3450 should suffice, was also looking at getting a backlit keyboard), virtualization, internet and multimedia (videos and music). I'd like this laptop to be really portable in the sense that it has long battery life and has good range for internet (I'm looking at getting a CDMA chip put in so that I can get wireless broadband). How do the following specs look?
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T6400 (2.00GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache) Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium, 64-bit edition Bright, glossy widescreen 15.4 WLED display (1280x800) 4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 800MHz 320GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM) 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 8X Slot Load CD / DVD Burner (Dual Layer DVD+/-R Drive) Intel WiFi Link 5100 802.11agn Half Mini-Card 85 Whr Lithium Ion Battery (9 cell) High Definition Audio 2.0 Back-lit Keyboard TELUS built-in cellular mobile broadband (EV-DO Rev A) $1,078 CAD
