Lenovo ThinkPad T400- Lenovo vendors
Are there any advantages of ordering a T400 from Lenovo vs buying if from a place like Tiger Direct or other vendors? Any suggestions for deals on this Lenovo model?
Thanks. |

The only advantage I see to direct other than possibly the price is the ability to customize it. TD, Newegg, etc. only carry preconfigured models.

Lenovo T400- Other questions
Memory- Is 2GB the preferred ongoing memory standard for this machine? If so, it's a (1) GB stick at $50 preferred over (2) 1 GB stick of memory?
OS- If I have XP Pro, is it better to format and install or to get Lenovo's downgrade version at $79? Hard Drive- What about the 5400rpm vs 7200 rpm for HD? Display- CCFL vs LED? Coupon- Does Lenovo honor their weekend coupons at 20% off? Thanks. Last edited by Charles; 04-26-2009 at 08:26 AM. Reason: Ease to read |

1. Dual channel is not supported so you don't have to install pairs.
2. It's a lot less hassle to buy their downgrade. That way the recovery partition will work and you don't have to screw with drivers. 3. 5400 is plenty fast for a notebook drive. 4. I dunno. 5. I dunno. |

LED available only through Customization I think. Atm, they are in very limited quantity.
Depend on vendor, you could save close to or more than 100 compared to an equivalent custom while buying preconfig. Also, I think that 3yr standard warranty is standard for all precofig. I'd like to recommend PcConnection for preconfig because they dont charge tax. But then, would that make me look bad for avoiding to pay tax in CA... :S Lenovo offers coupon and discount pretty much weekly. You better off just check their homepage. |
