$418 Dollar Nice Laptop?
ok lol, I know this is random but I didn't know where I should try posting. I made an account a while ago (think it was Arcology) when I was making my own desktop and got some helpful help here but have since forgotten the password.
The college I'm going to next year requires a laptop for all students. I already have a pretty nice desktop so I was shopping around for a budget laptop that was still decent enough to meet my program's requirements. So the requirements for the suggested laptop for my program are here. http://www.du.edu/uts/laptops/purcheng.html And I've found this laptop on the dell outlet for $418 (with shipping) after getting $100 off by using this coupon code. $100$$nb49 http://www.dfsdirectsales.com/StoreC...t=0&isLaptop=Y Does this meet all the requirements? It seems like a pretty nice laptop for just $400. Anyone order from dell outlet before? -thanks for any advice or tips |

Looks like it meets the requirements, other than MS office.
I haven't bought from the dell outlet, but have heard of them being recommended and would feel comfortable buying from them myself.

I have merged your 2 accounts, we only permit one account per user. In the future, please use the lost password procedure instead of opening a new account. Thank you.
- Admin - That laptop meets specs, but it's old technology. You can get something a lot newer for not much more money. Look on the Dell small business site at the Vostros and new Latitudes with the XP downgrade. Last edited by glc; 05-04-2009 at 09:00 PM. |

The D600s are notorious for over heating problems. You are better paying a little extra and getting this.
Buying from a Dell outlet is like betting on a donkey in the Kentucky Derby.

We haven't had any significant issues with Dell outlet laptops. You just have to know what you are looking at.

I have had a ton of these from customers who bought them at the outlet glc and ended up in my shop a month later. Maybe they were just the unlucky ones.

If you're worried about next semester (like after summer), just wait. There will be plenty of sales on new merchandise between now and then. Trust me!

Thanks for all the advice! I guess since I don't need the laptop until the beginning of September I may as well wait for new prices to come down as new stuff is released.

There is also a possibility you can get in on a group buy with the school. Check into that.
EDIT: Right now, Dell's small business site has some really good deals on the current Latitude "E" series notebooks. Those are rock solid, comparable to Thinkpads in quality and durability. Last edited by glc; 05-07-2009 at 05:35 PM. |
