Toshiba Satellite M65
Hello people well its been awhile.....Have a Toshiba laptop which seems to have an intermittent problem. With the battery charged it will turn on from the battery power. But if I shut it down and remove the battery and plug in the line adapter it will not turn on. If I then put the battery back in it with the adapter plugged in it will not turn on.
I have check the output voltage of the adapter and its 19.26 volts which is good. Now here is the strange part ...power up off of battery then plug in adapter and watch it charge the battery. Then shut it down an remove the battery and turn on with the the adapter only and it turns on. Also this unit is always used with the adapter the battery most of the time is not used... Am I making sense ???? ![]()

It sounds like the switching circuits that control whether the power supply is charging the battery or simply powering the laptop has gone faulty.
Have you googled the problem to see if anyone else has experienced anything like it? This place can show you how to disassemble your laptop: http://www.irisvista.com/tech/ I have found this site very good for laptop parts: http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com/

I am affraid so Al.
Have a good look around because some laptop motherboards have add-on cards, I know some of the Dell's were fitted with a power control card. |
