HP HDX 18t
Hey all,
I'm thinking about buying the HP HDX 18t laptop. I will use it for gaming and some school work and other entertainment. I was wondering, will its GPU (1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 130M) be able to handle graphic intense gaming? I'm talking about games like Age of Conan that require a lot of juice to run. I don't really know anything about that perticular GPU so any advice would really help. Also if there's any other advice that you have about this computer, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance. |

Welcome to PCmech
I hate to say it but HP quality is gone by the way side. I see 3 to 4 HP laptops in my shop every week with all kinds of quality related problems. My advise is look into an Asus. I can buy anything out there, I am in the business and take pride and owning the best. Asus hands down make the best laptops on the market. Check this out http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834220536 Keep in mind, no matter how powerful a Laptop is it cannot match the power of a PC when it comes to gaming. Games=Heat Laptops have no good way of staying cool. If you must have a gaming laptop I highly recommend you look into a cooling tray. Good Example http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834998686

Alright, noted. But quality issues aside, do you think this computer could handle some gaming with its Nvidia Geforce GT 130M? I don't know much about that GPU.

yes but don't expect it to run on max quality, it should be able to play most games on mid quality. Games like Crysis will be a struggle with low fps.

thats good to know. well now i have two options:
1. buy the HP and upgrade the GPU later when/if i feel the need to. 2. i was also looking at the alienware m17. whats your call? I think the hp is a better value cuz it costs less for more as compared to the alienware, minus the GPU in the HP (the m17 has Dual ATI GPUs in Crossfire) p.s. thanks for all the advice so far |
