Acer Aspire One Netbook
I recently purchased an Acer Aspire One, AOA 150-1029, netbook for my other half. She wanted it primarily to check email and download music to her Zune. I had two primary criteria - price and XP instead of Vista. She is barely computer literate and she did not want to fight the learning curve of a new OS. Originally we were looking at laptops; but we could not find one in our price range with XP.
I am pleased with the AA1 and she loves it. It has the largest keyboard of any netbook we looked at. I can acutally touch type with it. With her small hands she has no problem with it whatsoever. The price we paid was $337.00. Yes, there are better netbooks and notebooks out there; but for the money the AA1 is an excellent buy. It looks good, is sturdy and feels solid. I did purchase a USB super multidrive to go with it. So far, we have no complaints. It makes a good, easily portable, supplemental computer - at a good price. I spent most of a day last week at a hospital where a friend was undergoing heart surgery. I took the Acer with me, connected to the hospital's guest wireless account and passed the time surfing the net.
