Laptop Internet Issue
I am trying to help someone with a laptop issue. They have an Acer running Vista. He uses a Verizon Broadband USB727 modem. the issue is that while the modem connects, the internet does not work. I tried some other programs that uses internet access to make sure it wasnt just an IE issue and they could not get internet either. I tried connecting to wi-fi and same issue: connects to wi-fi but no internet. Any ideas?

Have you tried turning the modem off for a few minutes, and then back on?
How long has this been going on?

It just started. I also uninstalled the Verizon software and re-installed, problem continues. Another strange thing it does now is that when the Verizon modem connects, IE opens automatically (which it never did before). Oh, I should also clarify that this is a Verizon Wireless USB 727 Broadband modem, so its a celluar phone serive, not a Verizon landline.

Try typing in a numeric IP of a website into the browser address bar and see if you can connect to the website that way. For example, the IP of this forum is:
209.197.112.213 If you can connect with a numeric IP, you have a DNS problem. |
