Unusually slow boot time on Vaio
I got my laptop in late april and recently it has been acting like a dinosaur on boot. My three year old desktop boots faster and has lower specs. When the laptop is plugged in on "power saver" mode it takes around 210 seconds to fully boot. On performance mode it is curbed to 150 seconds. In either case the first 75 seconds regardless of mode is the same. Vaio pops up while POST is completed then the Windows starting bar starts and I watch that for more than a minute. I've defragged the hdd, used the questionable Vaio Care function to clean up the errors, and disabled some of the services I don't need. What more can I do? It seems to be a windows problem and not the software I have installed.

I would recommend you run diagnostics on the hard drive and memory first. Slow boots are quite often due to defective hard drives and (sometimes) ram.

I thoroughly checked both of them using Memtest86 and western digital data lifeguard to scan each. No errors on either program. Boot time remains the same.
