Toshiba Laptop battery having difficulty charging
I have a Toshiba laptop, going on 2 years. It's in great shape, but the only problems i've had with it is the A/C adapter. Toshiba totally screwed up with the A/C adapter. I've gone through 3-4 A/C adapters over the past 2 yrs. Well, the past 6-10 months my laptop can only hold a charge for maybe 25-30 min tops. It's a satellite p105-s9337, which has a high-end video card/processor. I'm not surprised it uses up battery quickly, but I'm pretty sure it held a longer charge when I first bought it.
Well, I just went through another A/C adapter (cord frayed), and bought a new one. This time, it doesn't charge the battery unless it's in Hibernation mode or off. As soon as I turn the laptop on, it stops charging, and just provides power to the laptop. Is this a battery issue, and not an A/C adapter issue? This problem actually occurred often with my other A/C adapters, but there would be period where the battery would charge no problem. Also, another symptom of my problem, is when my laptop cannot charge, but is hooked up to the A/C adapter it's difficult to move the cursor and type. It basically lags and skips, so when I try to type a word, I have to strike letters more than once. I tried to keep this as short as possible, but hopefully someone can help me out. Thanks guys |

Ok, so I bought a brand new battery, and just put it in my laptop. One of the problems my laptop was having with the old battery has almost disappeared. That is the lagging in typing and using the cursor. The laptop doesn't lag as much now, but the main problem still exists.
My laptop still will not charge. I have a brand new battery and A/C adapter. So the problem must be the laptop itself. I googled the phrase, "plugged in, not charging" and apparently a LOT of people have this problem, but no one has been able to fix it. Some people are blaming Windows Vista for this problem. I will take my laptop to a repair center here in my area which has proven to be very helpful, if I cannot fix it myself. Any ideas? |

The a/c plug on the mobo are known to bust loose. Sometimes a little soldier can fix it...sometimes the plug and or mobo have to be replaced.

I have a toshiba and the battery doesn't last that long either, but longer than 25-30min.. Go to their web site and see if you have the latest bios.. I was told that a bios update was done to address the batter issue..
