It depends on exactly what kind of "games" you are talking about. That Asus is a gamer's laptop with that graphics adapter. It's also a heavy beast with that 17" screen.
I personally prefer Intel-based laptops. Asus is one of the very few brands I trust, but you should also check out Dell. |

She plays games on Facebook and Pogo.
I found this Dell http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1218109498868 and I can get 18 months same as cash. It's a little more money, So it's either one of these. |

Those kind of games run fine on integrated graphics.
For that kind of work, this one should be quite sufficient: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1218089774715 |

Looking for a laptop for media
I am looking for a laptop to use at work as well. I biggest requirement I need of it is to be able to run and edit media. I want to be able to develop and run video on it clearly and smoothly that I will use for video presentations and slideshows. Would those that you've listed above be sufficient for media as well?
The cheaper the better but i'm looking for anywhere between $400-$800. If you have any suggestions that would be great. Thanks

I like his choice better. I have fixed many of inspirons as of late due to faulty graphics cards. Just my two cents worth. Dell takes care of the problem and I have not had any returns from their warranty repair. Just thought I would mention it.

I really wanted a 17 inch screen though. I looked today and the Dell I listed is sold out, so I guess it's looking like the Asus.
HP has some comparably priced with Dell does anyone have thoughts on HP laptops? Thanks |

I also had bad experiences with Dell as well. The only one I liked is Lenovo. built like a tank( ulgy like a tank, hehe), last like one, best resale value in case you want to sale it, some time in the future.

What does your WIFE want for a screen? Is she okay with the bulk and weight of a 17 inch?

she wants the 17 inch so its easier to see. She wants to be able to move from room to room and not going to travel much with it. Basically a second computer without the bulk of a tower and monitor.

Take a look here:
www.dell.com/outlet That's their refurb outlet - some really good deals to be had and they carry a full warranty. |
