Looking for a laptop

I am looking for a laptop to use at work as well. The biggest requirement I need is to be able to run and edit media. I want to be able to develop and run video on it clearly and smoothly that I will use for video presentations and slideshows. Would those that you've listed above be sufficient for media as well?
The cheaper the better but i'm looking for anywhere between $400-$800.
If you have any suggestions that would be great.

Thanks

I've been looking around for a bit and here's a few i've found, perhaps someone can give their opinion. Basically I want the computer for office work, email, media, and being able to hook it up to a projector and play videos and slideshows without it being choppy.

$699 after a $50 mail in rebate. This looks awesome but might be overkill for what I need.

$599 Wondering if this is still overkill?

$499 Nice and cheap. The big difference is that it's a Intel Pentium dual-core vs a Cord 2 Duo. The question is will this be plenty good for what I need it for?

$449 Even Cheaper and I can't tell the difference between it and the one above.

Any opinions?

Toshibas and HP's are not on my short list of laptop brands I trust. I prefer Lenovo, Dell, and Asus.
