Laptop won't recognize new battery
I bought an extended battery for Compaq presario V2000. The original is 4400 amps mAh the new one is 8800 mAh. The laptop says there is no battery present and it won't charge it. The new battery came with a partial charge when I installed it, so the laptop ran for about an hour. However if I pressed the power buttun it won't power up unless I had the AC adapter powering it up first. I would immediately remove the ac adapter and it would run fine but instead of showing the battery icon on the taskbar it would show that the AC was connected even though it was running on the battery. I swithched back and forth between the new and the old battery, every time the old one was installed the computer recognized it and ran normally. Why won't the laptop recognize the new extened battery? Thanks

Is the extended battery a true HP/Compaq battery or a Chinese equivalent? Some of the Chinese models aren't recognized properly. I've had that trouble with Dell's a couple times.

I bought on ebay so I believe it is a generic battery. Yes I just looked at it and it says made in China.
