Dell Inspiron 4100 which OS?

Just acquired a Dell Inspiron 4100 laptop(1.13G P3) with 512MB memory and 14 GB Hard Drive. Intend to use it for surf internet, emailing, watching DVD's, instant Netflix, word and possibly for Powerpoint presentation.

Can this machine hangle XP Pro well. Or should I use Win98 instead? It came with WinMe and has all the CD's. It also has a 98SE CD.

Any observations appreciated.

Windows 2000 Pro would be my choice. It would run XP but that hdd is too small to support a fully updated XP install. Only problem with running 2000 is the lack of firewall and pop up blocker/security stuff you get with IE7 & 8. You'd need to use a different browser like Firefox. IE6 is all you can run on 2000.

Win2K would be my choice too. If you need a firewall, go to oldversion.com and download Zone Alarm 4.5.594, that's what I run on my Win2K machines.
