Looking to buy my first laptop

Like it says, I'm looking to buy my first laptop. I'm in the process researching to find the best fit for me but I'm getting a little overwhelmed with all the choices and options and could use some help. I followed the advice I got from these forums to purchase and build my first PC over the past summer and had very good results so I thought I would ask for your help once again.

Anyways, what I'm looking for is a laptop that can do all the basics, include Windows 7, and also do some light gfx work (photoshop), and I my also do a little gaming on it but that is not critical as I have a great gaming rig already. AMD or Intel, no preference really.

I'm eaning toward a Levono, but am open to what ever. I also want it to be affordable, <$700 if possible.

Thanks

Other brands to look at are Dell and Asus. I have no complaints with Lenovo.

Well, I just got my new laptop today, took way too long for shipping, guess i'm just used to newegg...lol

Anyways, it was supposed to come with W7 64, but instead it shipped with Vista 64. It even says on the box that it was shipped with W7 (theres even a little W7 sticker next to the kwyboard) but it didn't...anways to my point

Should I have to pay to have the $17 for the "free" upgrade or is there another way that I'm missing? not that it's alot of money, but I really don't think I should have to pay anything since they screwed up. I also didn't want to have to reinstall a new OS and since it didn't ship with any software, I can't just wipe the HDD and do a fresh install.

How should I do this, Vista upgrade or do a fresh install w/o software? this is my first new PC that I will be doing anything like this, my past experience was with a PC that I built and befor that I just ran it how it came.

Thanks

Contact them and let them know. You shouldn't have to pay for Win7 when it should of came with it. They might of installed the wrong OS by mistake but maybe you should of went with someone else. I've never heard of that happening before.

I ordered it directly from Lenovo, actually shipped right from Shanghai.

The Key sticker on the bottom is for W7...lol

I might just order it for $17 so I can have the disc...but I'll see what Lenovo does first.

Thanks

If you have recently bought a Lenovo Y550 and you received Vista insted of Windows 7 then click the attatched link for more info on how to resovle your issues. Lenovo is even extending our warranties for a year as compensation...sweet!
