I can't speak for the Asus but I considered the M15X when I was looking for a new laptop not too long ago. I know you said you don't care about the price but you're really only paying for the name. Since Dell owns Alienware I spec'd out an XPS M1530 and Alienware M15X exactly the same in terms of performance and the XPS was substantially cheaper. I found that funny since Dell owns both. So you're essentially paying hundreds for the casing. Just something to keep in mind.

The wife's laptop is a g71 I got a few months back and she really enjoys it. The gaming rig I ordered last year from Alienware was dead out of the box and I spent several days getting it up and running. Customer support was horrible and I won't ever deal with Alienware again. If your looking for a top end rig and price is not issue, check out Falcon Northwest custom built machines.

thanks for the reply....i was actually planning for HP dvt6 series but an article in yahoo made me think twice...it was about the laptops that gets hardware malfunction.....HP and ACER were the bottom two (about less than a year for that malfunction) and ASUS and TOSHIBA were the top 2 (survived for more than a year w/o a glitch)....then i stumbled across alienware while looking around at asus...thanks for the help anyway......more comments are still welcome....

I'm rather confused about this comparison... First, why would you not be worrying about price and be looking at a stock m15x? At $1500 the m15x is blown away by pretty much any other gaming laptop you look at in the price range... Only 3GB RAM, 250 GB HDD, and a GT 240M GPU. For the same price you can get an ASUS G71Gx-X2 with 6 GB of RAM, 640 GB HDD, and a GTX 260m. Although you don't get the mobile i7 CPU, but the ASUS would blow the stock m15x out of the water, and for $300 more you can get the A2 edition of the G71GX with the Q9000 quad core CPU, plus the screens are bigger on the ASUS laptops.
My next confusion comes in with why you were trying to compare the m15x with the G71v edition? I don't even know where you can buy that model anymore. Its definitely not on sale new anywhere and I don't even see it on e-bay or other used sites. The only reason to buy an Alienware is if you like the way they look and have no problem with spending a lot more for what you're getting. Any ASUS gaming laptop around the same budget as what you want to build an Alienware for will be faster. And IMO if you want a faster desktop replacement and want to spend $2000+ Sagers are a lot better bang for your buck. |

I was trying to remember the name a lot of guys pointed me towards when I was shopping. Sager was it. Very, very good from what I researched. There isn't a doubt in my mind that if Dell had not offered a payment plan I would have gone Sager.

Either the ASUS G51J-A1 or the ASUS G72GX-A1. The G51J has a smaller screen (15.6) than the G72GX (17.3) but has uses the mobile i7 CPUs (up to 920XM), whereas the G72GX uses the Q9000 series (up to QX9300). So the CPU in the G51J will be faster, but they're both quad cores. Both laptops have the GTX 260m video cards.
I still recommend looking into Sager laptops, if you're looking for the fastest possible laptops. Look up some reviews on the SAGER NP9850, SAGER NP9280, SAGER NP8760, and SAGER NP9690. |

No idea - you are going to have to check with your local vendors.

You are going to have to check with the online vendors that do business in the Philippines. The vast majority of US vendors do NOT ship internationally. Even if you found one that did, the shipping cost will be very high, it would take forever to get there, and you will have customs and import duty issues.
