Problem with my laptop pls help !

I have a Toshiba running Vista and it has been a great comp. Lately though after shut down and when restarting it acts like its booting up but the screen stays black, if you shut the power button off and then back on it will come up and work fine .

Any clue whats causing this ??

We need your specs but it sounds like your screen has the problem ( that cable can do weird things) or possibly the battery ( If this happened when you're not running on the battery then obviously not. ).
The deal with laptops is that you can't tinker with them so who is your nearest "approved" tech and is the warranty still in force ?

No only sometimes. Sometimes I notice I have to hit the power button 2 or 3 times. Other times once and its on.

Its not under warranty either

Since the laptop is no longer under warranty you can use the repair service of your choice.
You have a hardware problem that a tech can best check for you.
