Question Toshiba display issue

Hello Guys,

My cousin brought me toshiba satellite P205D with a screen display problem. From boot screen to window login screen to desktop only one yellowish colour displaying. The remaining display pattern when on desktop is deeply blurred. You can barely see what you are clicking or reading. I thought it may be a loose connection somewhere inside the lcd screen. No luck cos I have dismantled the entire lcd screen and reconnected everything else.
I don't know you pros, what do you think else ? I suspect two things : THE INVERTER OR THE LCD SCREEN are defective. The cousin reported to me that, when he first noticed it, he used to kick gently any part of the laptop before the colour back to normal, but now not anymore.

Thanks a lot.

Thierry

Connect and extenal monitor to rule out a failing video chip. If the external works, I'd suspect the screen is going. The inverter simply controls the voltage to the lamp that provides light for the screen. If it's still lit up, the inverter is working fine.

Panama Red,

The external monitor works perfectly, without any mishaps. Yes I think the screen is gone sir.
Thanks a lot for that quick reply, I really appreciate.

I have a question regarding the model number because I want to buy the thosiba lcd screen. This is the model :
TOSHIBA SATELLITE P205D-S7802 17". The site from which I want to buythe lcd screen have this model number: Toshiba Satellite P205D-S7454 17". The last four digits on the model number would make a major difference or the screen will fit anyway ?

Thierry.

When I order replacement screens, I try to take the old one out first and use the numbers on the back of the panel. Those are the true part numbers to research and, usually, buying by panel number is a few dollars cheaper than buying by laptop model numbers.
