Hi, someone help her I bought a brand new (a month ago) 16" Toshiba laptop, it has dual proc t6600. and 4Gb ram WIN 7 , w/ reateck HD audio etc.
Prob that I have is that the sound (w/ the latest drivers from Realtek) and no matter what I do with the settings, it still soundstinny i.e. all highs (treble) and no apparent bass! Would you know: 1) how to resolve this so it sounds rite (if possible) 2) know of a laptop in the $600CDN price range tat would havea sim spec, and half decent sound? 3) I am able to return this to Bestbuy, should I buy another laptop, even though the sound is the same, but at least it has the i3 core technology? Thanks

Are you using the internal speakers on the laptop? These will ALWAYS sound tinny no matter what spec laptop you go for. There simply isn't the space to install the type of speakers required for good bass reproduction. The soundcard, however, should be perfectly adequate to supply a decent set of external speakers - invest your money here if you want good sound.

I went to Best Buy yesterday and spoke to the geek guy, and ended up buying speakers! It was either that or exchange this Toshiba L500-02J with a cheaper laptop like the one they have in Canada this week for 499$CDN http://www.bestbuy.ca/EN-CA/product/...Y_hmpg2_slide2 OR http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/...dff34de88cen02
OR exchange it and buy a laptop w/ the i-3 CPU. The one I have is the T6600. Yesterday while at the store, I guess it just became somewhat confusing w/ the lower cost laptops as some of them have the AMD cpu, which I have been told that they are such a good idea in a laptop, although I use AMD in my PC's. What do u think is a good way to deal w/ this? Cheaper laptop external spks / Laptop w/ i-3cpu and external spkrs? thks |

Hi kbaasit,
I hope you are still around. I was wondering how much you paid for the Dell Inspirion 8600? I am looking for it at Futureshop but can't find it. Maybe it's an older laptop- but I am just curious- like is it an"expensive" higher end laptop?, midrange or cheap? I ask because I bought a Toshiba yesterday. And ya, the sound is terrible. But I have some $100 workarounds. But also, if I could get a laptop that just sounded nice on its own without breaking the bank I would consider returning this one and trading up..... I hope you see this post. thanx. edit- oh ya, I see it is a 1.6 GHz circa 2004. Would you consider selling it to me- just kidding ![]() I wonder why does IT sound so nice and others don't???????????????????????????/ |
