Most laptops have their own version of battery calibrator within the BIOS and generally I would just update my BIOS if there is an issue with the accuracy of the old one. Don't like any software version. if you provide a bit more info, I suspect we may be able to provide a bit more concrete information. Brand/model of laptop, age, battery pack info (age/OEM??) etc..

I used to have a Compaq Presario 2100 laptop and it came with it's own battery calibrator software and every so often I would run it and it would discharge and recharge battery by it self to calibrate the battery gauge but that laptop died and I have a Acer Aspire 5516 and it does not have software to do this so I just wondered if there was something on the net that could do what my old compaq used to do but if not then I can just do it my self is all !

Newer batteries from the past many years don't need to be calibrated.

I know from experience that randomly plugging and unplugging a laptop from an AC adapter that over time can throw the battery gauge out of calibration but maybe this is not true anymore for new batteries.
