Inspiron 8600 screen goes dark when on AC power...
When this happens everything is still slightly visible in certain angles. This has just started to happen. he same thing happens when on the docking station. I can use it on battery till it goes dead and everything is fine. Once I plug in the AC adapter it goes very dim, as in almost totally dark. Nothing can get done when this happens..it's not shutting down though.

If this is happening while you have a VGA cable plugged directly into a monitor (skip the dock) then you have a problem with the video card and you are probably SOL. If you haven't already, try to update all drivers for the chipset, bios, etc.
