(Audio) Line Out????? (to stereo's)
Hello, well *sigh*
I just bought a Toshiba Laptop. I really wanted to be able to hook it up to a stereo. The specs said it has Audio Out=stereo. But there is no line out- just an earphone jack! My pc has an Asus motherboard which has line in, line out and microphone. So what do I do? Do I need to return this laptop? I guess I could use an earphone:stereo jack converter but I don't think the sound will be as good or will it? Are there laptops with dedicated line outs? If so, do you know their price range or can anyone suggest a brand? This is important to me. I posted before in the audio forum but the moderator kept moving my posts. I hope this is the right place to post. thank you!

Connect the headphone jack to your stereo line-in with an appropriate set of cables. If the sound is not satisfactory, purchase a USB sound card that has a true line-out.

Wow, that sound card looks great!! Thank you. And I am sure I could never get a laptop with one like that inside for only $60 more.
Interfaces/Ports: 1 x Microphone In Audio Line In 1 x 3.5mm Mini Jack Audio Line In 1 x Headphone Jack Audio Line Out 2 x RCA Left and Right Audio Line Out 1 x 3.5mm Mini Jack Audio Line Out - Rear 1 x 3.5mm Mini Jack Audio Line Out - Center/Subwoofer I found this elsewhere about this sound card. Thank you again, you made my day

Thank you GLC. I also read that it is about 5" square!
Then I was researching and found that Creative used to make another one that fit into the express card slot. The neat thing about that one is that it could send the music wirelessly to a reciever. But they don't sell it anymore. I think maybe the headphone jack will be good enough... But, I have another solution I would like advice on but I will put it in a new thread. Thank you very much for your help! |
