Laptop display
A friend of mine is having laptop problems. From what I gather, it works, but the video doesn't always display. Sometimes they can see and other times not. He figures it probably has integrated video (if that is the problem), but suspects it is just an issue with the screen. He would like to turn it into a desktop by using a monitor they have for it. Is that possible? What would he do? I have no system info or anything. I pointed him here, but I think he is tired of it and just wants to take it somewhere. However, I thought I would at least see if anyone had any advice or knowledge to impart with such limited info. I believe the computer is a few years old or so, but not sure.

It should be possible: just connect the monitor to the VGA output on the laptop and press the key combination to send video there (Fn+F8 on my Dell). If this works then it's the laptop's display; if not, then it's the video display adapter.

Sorry I initially put this in the wrong forum. I think I saw the Sony Laptop one and got it from that not realizing it was in the wrong one (and obviously not looking at the description itself. ) :-)
