Problem with acer netbook
I purchased an Acer Aspire One - AO531h netbook not too long ago, about 4 months. And i barely even used it. But yesterday I went to turn it on and it said resuming windows so i guess it was on standby or hibernating or whatever, but not completely shutdown. It never loaded windows tho. So i turned it off and turned it back on and it loaded windows fine, but the mouse and keyboard wasn't working. So i turned it off and on again, and it loaded fine and the mouse and keyboard both worked. But at this point I already used my other laptop for what i needed it for so i just left it there. A few hours later I went to check on it and when i turned it back on it must have went into standby or hibernation because it said resuming windows again. It did the same thing again and wouldn't load windows.
So i turned it off and on and this is where the problem is now. It won't go passed the Windows loading screen it just sits there. And when i boot it into safemode nothing works. It's like it's trying to load a really big program and is really slow, I cant right click, or open the start menu or any programs on the desktop. the only thing i can do is get the task manager to pop up, but even that takes forever. And i tried hitting no in safemode to load the system restore but then i get a send to windows error box. So i can't do that either. I have no idea what to do since there's no cd drive on this little thing, I can't pop in a windows disk and restore it. here's the specs for it from tigerdirect, where i bought it: Acer Aspire One AO531H-1440 LU.S650B.320 Refurbished Netbook - Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz, 1GB DDR2, 160GB HDD, 10.1" WSVGA, GSM, 6 Cell, Windows XP Home, Black |

I see 3 potential problems........
Acer Refurbished Tiger Direct I would say it's very possible that the reason it was returned originally and refurbished has resurfaced. Do you have a warranty on it? |

There may be a hidden restore partition which will allow you to get back to factory defaults. Absent that, you'll need an external cd drive that connects through usb or you can install a netbook version of linux like ubuntu netbook remix:
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download-netbook Ubuntu and most other linux netbook versions are designed to run the installation routine off a flash drive so you won't need an external cd drive. |

I've been using acer before and had problem on the battery life. I don't think that I have been abusing my computer in which I seldom use it. I just switch on another brand now, and always think that why mostly have got problems with acer or just incident.

I read another thread and it said how to use the eRecovery console, at start up, to restore it to factory defaults. It worked, and now it seems to be working fine, no problems at start up. I think i might of had a bad virus or something? Any ways thanks for the help.
