Compaq Presario X1000 (DK454AV) BIOS corrupted – no boot

I went to change the boot sequence to boot from my integrated DVD so I could reload my OS. After making the change I attempted to save the BIOS settings but the system locked up during the process. Now no boot, no screen, no effect when trying to get back into the BIOS. How do I (can I) clear the BIOS?

Look for a jumper on the motherboard to clear the cmos - if you can't find one, pull the power cord and remove the coin battery for an hour.

This is a notebook computer. I have removed and put back the CMOS battery but still no screen. The unit tries to read from the ODD but never succeeds (bootable media in the drive).

So...if I really decide to fight this one, I'll replace the CMOS battery (new one) and, if necessary, replace the ODD.

Done.
