Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop battery ?

Bought a new battery for laptop. Charges to 100% in Bios, power management and indicated by the 5 lights on the battery itself. Set power management to all items always on in battery mode.

Computer runs fine for about 2 hours or until the power management shows about 65% battery remaining and then the computer shuts down and will not restart on the battery. When I restart the Bios and power management shows 65% or battery life and there are 3 lights on the battery which indicates around 60% still there.

What else is there in the computer management system or in Windows (XP) that could be causing the system to shut down at this point. Could it be that the battery is generating too much heat (doesn't feel hot), bad battery (??).

Contacted the battery supplier and they are sending me a new one but just have this feeling that I am missing something in the computer / software / Windows itself.

Worked fine with the old battery until the old one crapped out a couple of months ago.

Is it a genuine Dell battery or a Chinese knockoff?

Both batteries are aftermarket. The one that "crapped out" had been in for about 2 years.

Actually, "genuine Dell" batteries can/will have Chinese cells, at least the one that came with the computer did when I took it apart.

When it comes to aftermarket batteries, you generally get what you pay for.

I guess the same could be said for forum responses.

No need for you to watch this thread any further. If I wanted to get biased, political oriented responses I would have gone somewhere else. Actually thought I might get an intelligent and thoughtful / inciteful response about some area of the problem that I had been overlooking while trying to debug the issue.

Won't waste anymore of your time or the forum bandwidth over this.
