what hardware do you recommend if I want it to stay on for long time
Hello, instead of asking what brand of laptop is better I will ask this. If I intend my laptop to stay on all the time (for downloading) and also if I want it to burn dvds really quickly what setup should I search for?
What brand specs should the dvd drive be? What CPU is considered best these days? I keep seeing many of these new laptop with i5 or i7 marked CPUs, does anyone know what can those cpus do that older cant? In general I raelize its faster, but what makes them better? Thanks

It's not wise to leave a laptop running 24/7, it runs the battery to crap real fast.

You certainly could remove the battery if ruining it is a concern.
You probably won't have a choice on which brand drive you get with a laptop. You probably won't have much choice about specs either. Generally, higher the multiplier the faster. The i5 or i7 are just the latest and greatest. At a high level they are just faster.
