Dell Laptop NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

I have a three and a half year old Dell XPS M 1710. A couple of days ago I started to get this error message that crashes my system:

*** Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Error
*** The system has halted ***

I've Googled this message and have found the possible cause to be anywhere from overheating to a dying video card. It appears that a LOT of Dell owners who've purchased their laptop at around the same time as I did (Fall 2006) have had this problem. The main difference for me is that my laptpop just started to malfunction while many other Dell owners were having this problem soon after they purchased theirs.

I ran Memtest 4.0 and Dell diagnostics and there were no errors detected.
I used compressed air to clean out all the vents.

I am also getting a snowy display during the malfunctioning. Could this mean the video card is the culprit?

Thanks in advance
