Laptop fan works in BIOS but not WinXP
Hi,

I recently installed a new hard drive in a 3-4 year old Gateway MX6319 and the new drive failed in about 2 weeks. After installing another new drive I noticed how hot it was getting. I noticed the fan is turning when in the BIOS and when it's booting but when windows xp starts the fan stops and never turns on.

I assume it's a driver issue. I installed all the drivers from Gateways website and still no fan.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Also anywhere I can find out what brand of motherboard is in it?
