Need Laptop Advice?

Hi i got a new samsung laptop today it came with a 500GB hard drive it had 2 partition's the C drive had 100GB and than the D drive had around 350Gb on it so i deleted the D drive and added the space back to the C drive i wanted to know why are laptops hard drives coming with 2 partitions? and when i added the space back to the c drive i just hope it wont mess the laptop up

i for got to add there are 3 partitions one being the recovery partition and i never touched that one

Are you sure the D drive wasn't the recovery partition?

I have a Theory. Its done for Multimedia applications. To put movies on. Possibly for sharing.

It's so that you can run a full system recovery if necessary without deleting your data files. The "D" drive is for all your data storage.

yeah i checked it befor i deleted it and added all the free space back to the C drive the D drive was clean had 350 GB free space..... the laptop seems to work just fine and i did do a backup befor i did it

I know Acer is known to do this, i'm guessing it's for recovery purposes, though most recovery partitions are a fraction of your noted size. But it's good that your laptop still works fine after that

well its going on almost a month now and the laptop is still running good no troubles from deleteing the D drive and adding the free space back to the C drive i even still have the recovery partition if i ever need to use it the recovery partition is hidden so it cant be deleted by the user i guess laptop makers are doing it that way now to be safe so a user dont delete it
