With the exception of the Galaxy Tab, the only credible competition and not cheap either, the cheap tablets just aren't worth the price and are being universally panned.
Here are a few : iPad News: AOC Debuts $200 Breeze Tablet – iPad.net CherryPal CherryPad America Review - A Review of the CherryPal CherryPad America Like Jobs said "If Google tells you not to use the current OS and you use it anyway what does that say." and that's something to consider with every tablet out there now that uses Android. CES is now on and the non-Apple tablets with 3.0 (Honeycomb) should be showing there. Wait for reviews on them and then decide if they're worth your money.

I agree with pam123. Unless you are the type that enjoys being on the "bleeding edge" or dealing with everything that comes with being an early adopter, I'd wait until the new tablets with Honeycomb hit the market. The current shipping OS doesn't have full support for tablets and there aren't many apps in the Market that are optimized for the larger screen on tablets.

I bought the iPad for my wife and she loves it (so does my daughter). It almost replaces her laptop except for work stuff. Depends on what you want to use it for. It is great for travel and entertainment, reading, and browsing.

Wait for the copy cats to get better. They will. Competition will drive down the price of the iPad and the copy cats versions of the tablets. That's how capitalism works. I can easily see an iPad equivalent copy cat selling for $200-300 in a year or two. I'm waiting out for that so I can convert my magazine subscriptions to a digital format that I can read in bed or when away from home in my beach chair.

I have the iPhone/Touch version and it works fairly well for shows on CBS and NBC . I just tired it on CNET after reading your post and CNET TV worked without a hitch. That game site is going to be more of a problem because Flash still isn't optimized for a touch screen but the same warning applies to all other tablets as well. If you have your heart set on an Android tablet, 3.0 please, or one from HP or Blackberry then you'll have to wait and see how they perform when released since so far there have only been demos. edit : I meant ABC Last edited by pam123; 01-16-2011 at 04:41 PM. Yeah I kind of prefer android have tried the galaxy tab and it seems to work well, but that was only for a short time. Maybe I would have found some bugs if i looked at it closer

We have netbooks for 300 dollars, yet the latest Apple "netbook" costs one grand. Apple doesn't need to cut down prices on their items because they think their products are superb. I agree.

It's still true that Apple has competition and when high quality open source Android tablets get down to $300 bucks that people will have the choice to choose one of these over a $500 to $830 iPad. Some will choose the $300 tablets over the iPad and that is the competition. Apple still only has a 6.4% market share with their big ticket items...computers. It's their small ticket items where they dominate.

The Ipad is a bit more than "small ticket" though - I assume you are really referring to Iphones and Ipods?

I have no definition of "small ticket"....it's all relative. I was just comparing it to Apple's most expensive products, their computers.

I love my Galaxy Tab, never liked apple or anything they make, too expensive of products for what they offer!
