New Laptop
I am being asked to provide a recommendation for a laptop. I don't know much about them. I know it will be an Asus but that's about it. He wants to do the usual browsing, email and the like. No gaming.
What CPU are you recommending at this time. I'm thinking a 15.5 screen and 4 gigs of ram with Windows 7 64bit. What do you think? Thanx

Love Mine!!
A short time ago I purchased my first Laptop, and I love it. I'm not a gamer, but a full time student and I'm on the Net constantly with school and research. I have ASUS -U80A with (14" screen, to keep the weight down) 4GB and 500Gb,it has the 32 and 64 bit Win.7 home prem. I use it at home and at school constantly and have no complants, I picked mine up for $350. Probably the biggest drawback, and really for me isn't a big problem is that it only has 2 USB ports, also I had to get used to not having a full size numeric pad. Overall this laptop will get me through 2 more years of Nursing school easy.

I visited Comox when I was on active duty - it was around 1980 or so, right after Canada bought the CP-140 Auroras.
The only reason I didn't suggest the D1 is they are not specific about whether it has 32 or 64 bit Windows. If it is 64 bit, it looks good. |

I knew a bunch of 407 guys. I was a Fire Fighter. I was in Comox from 1967 - 1973 and 1985 -1990. Does it match up?

I was there from 1980-1982 so I doubt we met. After there I was in Shearwater and from There to Cold Lake. I left the military in summer 0f 91 and went to work for an engineering company in Edmonton.

Yes the CP- 140 Auroras. Better known in the states As a P3 Orion. It's a small world G. I met a lot of USAF guys when Comox was a nuke capable base. Had some real good times with those guys. We were flying F101 Voodoos that also came from the good old USA. |

I was a P-3 aircrewman for about 20 years. We flew in to look at each other's planes and have some fun. Nice NCO club you had there!

lol...What would make you think that. I remember tending bar one night at the old nco club, turned around and the bar was on fire. That put a wrench in the fesivities that night. Not long after that a new nco club was built.

Not that it helps but I just ordered the HP dm1z (new AMD Fusion/Zacate) for a low price of 449.00 and its smaller at almost 12inches I am hoping I wont be disappointed and the reviews seem nice.
I couldnt wait for the Asus version
