iPad 2 vs. Motorola Xoom resale value?
Hi all,
My employer has decided to give all it's employees a choice of an iPad 2 or Motorola Xoom (both wireless 32 GB versions) as a safety award. I was really hoping for a big screen TV, so I plan on selling it once I get it. It looks like they both retail for $600.Which one will I have the best luck at selling to retain the most money out of the sale? Where would you recommend me to sell it? I've sold a couple things on the local Craigslist, and I've never sold anything on eBay, but I could start. Did I miss it in looking for a classifieds on this forum? Edit: I just read the rules for the first time, hoping I'm not breaking them with this post - it didn't look like it. However, I saw a rule about a For Sale forum, but I still can't seem to locate it. That might be my best venue for selling it(?). Thanks for any advice! Leave it shrink wrapped and maybe the store it comes from will exchange it for credit towards a TV.

We no longer have a "Classifieds" section, too many attempted scams.
If you want top dollar get the iPad for resale.

Your employer is giving it to you as a job requirement or as a gift that you can do anything you want with it? What a nice employer!
![]() Buy it from the same store and return it to the same store that has the TV. I hate to say it...BestBuy? So you don't have a restocking fee like Newegg charges.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, my work is saying, "Thanks for working safely, have your pick of a tablet!" We reached a milestone that's been started since 2005. We all really like our organization we work for, and yes, they are nice!
No need for it at work, it's intended for home use. They let us know that they are securing vendors for the tablets, so it is possible that they will just receive a whole bunch of boxes from vendors unknown to us at work, and tell us to come get the one we picked. We've had some smaller safety award items handed out in the past, and you just didn't know where they came from, but you guessed they didn't deal locally to get them, so there was no way to take it back anywhere. Yesterday, I heard talk amongst co-workers that there might be a known vendor like Costco or Best Buy. Last May we had a smaller safety award, and I got a gift reciept because I picked an item that they got from Target. I was able to take it back and get a Target gift card for the amount. When I heard this latest talk, it really got my hopes up that I can get a gift reciept with it again. If that is the case, that would be sweet. If not, thanks for the information pam123, I will get the iPad2. Last edited by Blue Flux Blazer; 03-20-2011 at 01:46 AM. |
