Vpad7?
Hi all. Think I may have finally decided what I am going to do. This looks like it would be the best option for me. Instead of having 2 seperate units.
I purchased the LG Thrive from Amazon. Have not used it yet. The internet access on a 3.2" screen. The Asus Eee Pad. Perpetually B/O. But doesnt have the Simm slot. Would only work in places with Wifi. The Viewsonic Vpad7 combines both. Basically its an Unlocked 3G phone. With a 7" screen. But also has wireless B/G built in. Just watched a Demo video. And they showed it working on the ATT network. Just a little bulkier than a phone. But not as bulky as the Asus. Found a few places that have the Vpad7 on sale. Dont know how long the sale will last. So I am asking for Opinions please? Thanks escapemax |

Here's a review : Viewsonic Viewpad 7 Review & Rating | PCMag.com
This really doesn't look like a good buy. If you're serious about 7" tablets then hold on to your cash till all Android tablets run 3.0, or later, as their OS.

I was thinking that it would cheaper for me to buy a 7" model. With the 3G. Use my current ATT Sim. Basically a Smart Phone with a decent size display.
I just noticed I can get a Samsung Galaxy 3G Unlocked. But its pricey. Over $400. But it does More than the Viewsonic. Thanks Pam123 |

Before you do that you'd better check with AT&T to find out how they deal with transfers between product lines.
There are just too many stories out about customers having to buy new cotracts for you to take fore granted that you can use sim card from another model phone on a new tablet. |

I have Reused my Sim. About 3 years ago I bought the Motorola C130. The $15 ATT special for Go-Phone. Now its in a LG Prime. And ATT told me that I could put my original Sim in the LG Thrive.
ATT offers the Galaxy Tab on the Post Paid deals. |

Just contacted ATT. The Refurbed Samsung Galaxy is a Web Only. No Phone service.
Thanks for Warning me ahead of time. The Vpad7 might have the same problem. |

Vpad7 has unlocked 3G as well as wifi but that doesn't mean you can put your AT&T sim card into it, ask them about that .
Amazon has that tablet : Amazon.com: ViewSonic ViewPad 7 7-Inch Android 2.2 Tablet - Black (Wifi & Unlocked 3G): Computer & Accessories |

ViewSonic had a Demo that showed it connected to the ATT network. But I dont remember them showing it used as a phone.

It's not a phone and it's not a good tablet either. The 3G is for Internet when you can't get wifi.
The only handset that's both, or tries to be both, is the 5" Dell Streak. |
