HP DV6700 Notebook Won't Come On

I really need some help here people. You guys and gals are smarter and more experienced with these computers than me, so I come to you for help. My girlfriends computer is the model I described above. I can't really give you the specs on anything because it won't turn on. These are the fixes I have tried. I've removed the battery and ac/adapter and held down the power button for sixty seconds and then applied ac power, with no results. I have purchased and tried new memory, no results. When I press the power but it lights for a second or two and then goes out. When I first press the power button keyboard lights come on and then they go out. I thought about changing the cmos battery, which I did with another 2032, with no results. Is the cmos battery specific to this HP model (KTS 2032 #702). Can anyone give me any direction on where to proceed from here to correct this proble. I would appreciate any and all help. Thanks for reading this lengthy post.

I assume that it's out of warranty. I believe your laptop is among those models notorious for having defective nvidia graphics that overheat something terrible. I'm guessing your GPU and/or motherboard are fried. You probably already checked out and cleaned the vents and heat-sink, but if not, you could try that.

HP DV6700 Won't Come On

Would the vents and heatsink stop it from even coming on?

If the fan is not working, probably. Have you tried starting it up with no RAM installed?

I've got a Dell here with the same symptoms - the motherboard is toast.

Motherboard is done. They are notorious for overheating. There is a class action lawsuit as well.
