ipad hacker

Hi.. I just got the following email from a friend of mine re getting what looks like a virus on his ipad (I don't have one). Any ideas?

Jim suggested I ask you about a problem I encountered. I was on a web site and clicked on a link; a black screen came up with
a big red HACKER surrounded by numbers (and letters?) I quickly exited, but I don't know if it did any damage. Also, I am afraid
to go back to Safari, since it comes up with the last screen it displayed. To go anywhere else on the internet, I would first be opening
the hacker screen again. Also, I am afraid to open my email for fear it might allow access to my contacts.
What do you think I should do? Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
