laptop Specs Question

Could someone shed some light as to why this Lenovo laptop is priced so low?
Newegg.com - lenovo IdeaPad Z560 (0914-42U) Notebook Intel Core i3 380M(2.53GHz) 15.6" Wide XGA 4GB Memory DDR3 1066 320GB HDD 5400rpm DVD±R/RW Intel HD Graphics

All the others in the $399 -$500 range seem to use older technology and have less impressive specs. Just wondering if Im missing something or if its just a great deal.

That is a good price but it is an entry level i-3 laptop from Lenovo. Lenovo makes much better laptops (durability) than that model but you will pay more. Thinkpads are their top of the line, business class and are very reliable.

Im trying to advice a friend on the purchase of a laptop. Any opinions on refurbished such as this one?

Newegg.com - Recertified: ASUS U43 Series U43F-BBA6 Notebook Intel Core i5 480M(2.66GHz) 14" 6GB Memory 640GB HDD DVD±R/RW Intel HD Graphics

She is just using it for school. She knows she wants 13 "- 14" for portability. Doesnt really have a budget but wants a good laptop for as little money as possible. I know Asus is probably the most popular brand on here, but its pricey.

Any opinions on HP laptops? this one has good specs for a good price
Newegg.com - HP ProBook 4430s (XU012UT#ABA) Notebook Intel Core i3 2310M(2.10GHz) 14" 4GB Memory DDR3 1333 320GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi Intel HD Graphics 3000

I won't touch HP laptops with a 10 foot pole, and I'm leery of refurbs. That Asus only carries a 90 day warranty. If I were looking for a deal on a refurbished laptop, I'd look in the Dell outlet for a Latitude. Those are business-class laptops equal to the Lenovo T-series.
