Mini DV to a DVD?
Hopefully this is the right spot for this thread. My mother has this camcorder.
Amazon.com: Samsung SCD27 MiniDV Camcorder with 3.5" LCD: Camera & Photo She has a lot of important films in mini DV, is there a way of transferring those films to DVD?? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() By the way I do have Roxio Media creator 10 suite install in my PC so if this app comes in handy any way please let me know.

In theory, it should be easy, as long as your computer has a Firewire input. However, reading the reviews indicates that it may not be as easy as it sounds.

Well, you would need a Firewire cable and a camera driver for your OS to begin with.

Looks like my PC doesn't have firewire so really there isn't another option? I really need to do this.

I found out this on the cam site, it has:
Inputs and Outputs The SCD27 comes an IEEE1394 in / out, USB port, and Analog Input. So this eliminate the firewire problem, now where would I get the camera driver? What would the camera driver be for? |

You MUST have Firewire - the USB on a camcorder cannot be used to capture video. Firewire cards are cheap.
Newegg.com - Rosewill PCI to 4x1394 Card Model RC-507 Windows XP and newer can natively open zips. Double click on the zip folder and extract all the files into an empty folder. |

I am not sure if you are aware how the original cable is from the camcorder unless I can get the same cable with the end going to the PC being firewire. The cable I have here goes in the camcorder perfectly but the other end that goes to the PC is an USB. I finally open the zip folder but have no luck getting the drivers install still trying.

Ok guys I am sorry, I just realized I had the wrong freaking cable. I thought my brother bought the right cable. Now it makes sense what GLC was stating that video can only be run via firewire. I am assuming it also makes sense why the drivers were not able to install since my PC wasn't reading the camcorder AT ALL! I apologize for this I need to double check next time. Hey at least I get another upgrade from my mother pockets now, I get to have a firewire card
Should come in handy for my media art major I decided to pursue.

Bumping this thread back, just finish installing my ASUS wireless card and rosewill firewire works like a charm! My DV was finally recognized by my computer. My firewire came with a freebie of Corel Video Studio Essential X4. I am going to see if this helps me see the videos inside the DV im trying to pull out.
