Packard Bell EasyNote SJ51 blank screen
A friend gave me a Packard Bell EasyNote SJ51 laptop recently saying it was "dead".
Yes, the screen is blank but I've connected it to an external monitor and it boots up fine. I'm having trouble locating a user guide online for this laptop but is it 'F5' to alternate between laptop and external screen? If the screen is faulty, is it possible the inverter is faulty? An answer from anyone with laptop repair experience would be appreciated. I have no problems repairing the fault - but I don't want to shell out money on buying the wrong part. TIA.

Very likely the inverter or the backlight itself. If you shine a strong light on the screen, can you see a faint image?

I am a bit mystified. I put the laptop on a table to look at it with a powerful lamp and the screen came back to life - working perfect! Sadly it has not lasted - the screen is blank again.
