Blackberry & Exchange Server
I know next to nothing about them and I currently don't have it in from of me.
ISSUE: The BB has two (2) addressbooks that both have 7000+ contacts. ONE-> linked to old exchange server - is not syncing... TWO-> linked to new exchange server - is syncing just fine. GOAL: We need to make the ONE addressbook go away/disappear/get it off the device. My client and I have both been given the impression that we must "wipe" the BB and in short - start fresh and add the new exchange mail account back. This seems a little extreme to me... Is the a way to simply delete the addressbook...even if that means deleting the contacts one by one? |

What model of BB?
There should be an option when in your contact to "View" address books. You SHOULD be able to choose which address book(s) you want to be seen. If you know which address book needs to be deleted you can set your BB to only show that address book and then mass delete your contacts. |

Thanks for the reply. Not sure I'm following you.
Are you saying hide (so to speak) the good address book and then open the old one and delete the contacts? Or are you saying just open the old one and delete away? EDIT: Its a BB Torch. Last edited by EzyStvy; 09-28-2011 at 03:08 PM. |

You should be able to SHOW the old address book while HIDING the new address book.
I believe if you are in your "Contacts" folder, just by pressing the BB key you should get your menu options. |

I've been reading (after googleing) till my eye are popping out.
The following looks interesting since its an exact match to my client's problem.. Any thoughts? Quote:

Never heard of that. Interested to see/hear if that does work or if there is any truth to it.
I have just hidden the address book(s) I wanted to keep and only showed the address book(s) I wanted to delete. It has been about a year since I swapped over from BB to Android, but I know you can delete it like I described above. |

Thank you mjkovis for all the feedback
![]() From what I read - the REST command isn't in a typical user manual.... |

Ended up doing the RSET command... It removed both address books even though we thought it would only remove the old one.. But within a minute or two, the hugh number of contacts started re-downloading...
